    We have compiled a comprehensive list of local city information for those relocating to Birmingham or those who simply want to find out more about the area. Birmingham is the largest city in Alabama and is the county seat for Jefferson County. The Greater Birmingham area is estimated to have over 1,200,000 people, which is approximately one-quarter of Alabama's population.

    Birmingham was founded just after the Civil War and has it's beginnings in the iron and steel industry. Currently, it is home to many of the largest banking institutions, including Regions Financial, the medical industry, and is home to several different universities and colleges.
